AA1

AA1 (originally titled Land_AA) is the first book in an eleven volume set that examines the legacy and mythology of American photographer, Ansel Adams. AA1 is a facsimile of an altered copy of Ansel Adams’ book, “The Grand Canyon and the Southwest.” To produce AA1, Happel Christian and Lewis convened in Iowa Falls, Iowa for 24 hours and together altered a copy of “The Grand Canyon and the Southwest” with vibrant stickers. Page by page, each intuitively reacted to the contents of the book by placing stickers on each page. The graphic redactions hide what had captured their immediate attention and render fine details as a primary shape.

The perfect bound book is housed in a handmade, paper slipcase.
